Algonquin Lakes trash pick-up is every Monday

Trash containers should all be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on Monday.
Trash Pick-up
The Village of Algonquin contracts with Waste Management to provide trash pick-up and recycling services. Separate Waste Management trucks pick-up the trash and recycling so each of these materials may be picked up at different times of the day. Algonquin uses a Pre-Paid Yellow Sticker program. One (1) prepaid sticker must be attached to each bag or container set out for collection. Bags and containers can not exceed the 50 pounds. Yellow trsah stickers cost $1.95 each.
- Trash must be in plastic bags or in a Waste Management container so that no trash will spill.
- Containers of trash must be placed at the curb nearest the Resident's driveway and not on the grass. Placing of trash containers on any portion of the Common Elements other than curbside is not permitted. Owners will be held responsible for any damage caused to the Common Elements.
- The Resident must remove any litter remaining on the ground after disposing of trash and after trash pick-up.
- Hazardous or flammable materials and construction debris shall not be deposited in the trash container. Residents should contact the Village of Algonquin for appropriate disposal location for such materials.
- All trash containers shall be returned to the Resident's garage as soon as possible after trash pick-up. Trash containers are to be placed out no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled pick-up day and must be removed from the common area no later than Midnight on the day of pick-up.
Trash Pick-up Holiday Schedule Holiday collection will be made with a one-day delay following a holiday which occurs during the week. For example, if the holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday pickups will be on Wednesday and so forth. The Monday pickup would not be affected. Holiday schedules are observed for the following holidays:
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
Christmas Trees
Christmas trees discarded for pickup will be collected at no charge. Cut tree in half if over six feet. Please remove all tinsel and decorations; do not bag tree; and uncover if buried by snow.
Large Items
Large household items such as: discarded furniture, beds, tables, portable TVs, etc. will be collected on your regular pickup day. Items less than 50 pounds will require one (1) prepaid sticker attached to each item. Large household items over 50 pounds will require two (2) prepaid stickers attached to each item.
Remodeling Debris
Items such as carpeting and lumber should be cut into 4 foot lengths, and the pieces tied together. Bundles cannot exceed 50 pounds and one (1) sticker must be attached to each bundle.
Appliances
State law prohibits the disposal of appliances in landfills. This includes refrigerators, freezers, ranges, washer/dryers, water heaters, air conditioners, humidifiers and dehumidifiers and other similar domestic and commercial large appliances. Call Environmental Field Services, Inc. at (800) 480-4337 for a cost quote and to arrange for a pickup.
Toxic Products
Automotive batteries, paint products, insecticides, oils, anti-freeze, etc. will not be collected. For tips on where to dispose of these and other household chemicals, contact the Illinois EPA at (217) 785-8604.
